How does hypnosis work?
Hypnosis is a way of using natural brain functions, particularly the
function of attention, to enable and empower us to reach our full potential.
Often we are held back by bad experiences and memories from the past.
By changing our focus of attention we can enter a hypnotic trance and in
this state are able to free our minds from these negative influences.
Brain scans have shown that hypnosis engages the creative areas in the
brain, allowing us to come up with new solutions for old problems. For
a full scientific explanation of hypnosis go to Alastair Dobbin’s
website at www.hypnodoc.co.uk
How do these hypnotherapy CDs work?
These hypnotherapy CDs are based on a combination of hypnosis, Neurolinguistic
Programming (NLP), visualisation and relaxation.
Using these hypnotic techniques positive suggestions and words sink deeply
into your unconscious mind where they will re-programme the way you think,
feel and act.
Our emotions are generated from unconscious thoughts, and it is emotions
which guide our more conscious thoughts and motivate our actions. By
using hypnotic techniques these unconscious thoughts can be more easily
reached to help make the changes you wish to make, such as stopping
smoking, losing weight, or sleeping better.
How long is each CD and how often should I listen?
We recommend that you listen to your CD a minimum of twice a day for
the first week and once a day for a fortnight. After that you can listen
whenever you think it will be helpful to have a ‘top-up’.
If you listen at the same time everyday it makes it easier to be committed
to listening.
If you have the Positive Mental Training programme you should listen
to the same track everyday for a week before moving onto the next track,
working your way in order through the 3 CDs of the Positive Mental
Training programme.
Each CD track lasts for around 15 – 20 minutes. They are pleasantly
relaxing with beautiful background music by Johan Onvlee, a Dutch musician.
As each CD begins with relaxation it is important to listen somewhere
safe where it does not matter if you fall asleep. You may find that
your mind drifts or you do fall asleep whilst listening, don’t
worry your unconscious mind is still listening.
Does it matter if I fall asleep whilst listening to a CD?
Definitely not! Your unconscious mind will continue to listen even
if your conscious mind is asleep. Many people find that the CDs help
them sleep if they listen just as they fall asleep, (this is the case
with all the CDs such as stopping smoking and weight loss and not just,
the insomnia CD).
How will I feel after listening to a CD?
People describe feeling relaxed and positive sometimes a bit woozy. You may remember everything
that was said on the recording or you may have found that your mind
drifted. It doesn’t matter, either way your unconscious mind will
have been listening and absorbing the positive messages.
What if I disagree with some of the content of the CDs?
This is unlikely as the content of the CDs has been very carefully
written to be positive and acceptable, affirming of our basic human
qualities. However if there was anything in the content of these CDs
which you disagreed with your unconscious mind would simply reject this
message. Your unconscious mind will always look after you and contrary
to popular myth, during hypnosis you cannot be made to do or say things
against your wishes.
Is listening to a CD better than seeing a hypnotherapist?
This depends. The great advantage of a hypnotherapy CD is that you
can listen to it over and over again, thereby reinforcing the message.
Often it is more convenient and cheaper as well. Consulting a hypnotherapist
will give you an individually tailored programme to help you change.
Some hypnotherapists also give recordings to reinforce their sessions. If
you live in or near Edinburgh, Scotland, UK please
contact Sheila Ross for a hypnotherapy session.
Research has shown that hypnotherapy CDs are as effective as a hypnotherapy
consultation.
Is hypnosis safe?
Yes, the hypnotic state is a safe natural state that we drift in and
out of daily. It has been likened to daydreaming or being absorbed in
a task where time goes by very quickly.
Is success guaranteed?
We cannot give you a guarantee like this. Guarantees are good for machinery
like TVs or cars but not for complex workings of the human mind.
Although many of our customers find our products highly effective we cannot guarantee that everyone will
find this, although in the majority of cases proper use of our products will lead to beneficial effects.
How much you succeed is up to you.
For success you need to believe in yourself, have a clear vision of
your goal and work hard to achieve this goal. These CDs can help boost
your self belief, your motivation and your willpower to keep going towards
your dream.
